Gold worth Rs 3.70 lakh stolen from a house in Udupi
Udupi, Nov 18, 2021: Thieves stole gold, silver, and cash worth Rs 3.70 lakh from a house in Udupi.
The incident took place on the intervening night of Nov 16 and Nov 17.
According to the complaint, thieves entered the house of Babu Acharya (60) at Gundibail and stole 90-gram gold jewelry worth about 3.60 lakh, silver materials worth Rs 10,000, Rs 400 cash, and also the land records of Babu Acharya’s brother. The total worth is estimated to be Rs 3,70,400.
The incident took place at Babu Acharya’s old house, which is in front of his new house. Babu Acharya and his family used to cook food and live in the old house but at night would go to their new house to sleep.
An FIR is registered at Udupi Town Police station under IPC Section 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night in order to commit offense) and 380 (Theft in dwelling house).
