Congress camp bustling with activities as election nears

Udupi, Nov 17, 2021: The MLC election is getting interesting due to the various developments in the Congress camp.
The latest one is the visit of Rajendra Kumar and Vinay Kumar Sorake to KPCC president D K Shivakumar’s house on Wednesday.
Rajendra Kumar, who is known for his service in the cooperative sector had opted to contest the MLC election. But now several Congress leaders want him to contest as the party candidate.
According to Congress sources Vinay Kumar Sorake, former MLA Gopal Poojary, Congress leader Kanachur Monu met D K Shivakumar and requested him to field Rajendra Kumar as the party candidate.
The photo went viral on social media. This development has annoyed a section within Congress who has questioned the move of Sorake and other leaders.
“We came to know that Sorake met DK Shivakumar and demanded the Congress ticket for M N Rajendra Kumar. The party had asked the leaders and workers to apply for the ticket. When Rajendra Kumar never applied how can our leaders demand a ticket for him now? We are not opposed to fielding anybody. But are unable to understand the process,” a Congress leader said.
Meanwhile, party sources said that another group of Congress too met D K Shivakumar and demanded the ticket for Bhujanga Shetty of Udupi.
