NSRY Karwar wins Gold Trophy for In-house Quality Concept
The quality circle (QC) team was led by Commander Girish Jadhav and Foreman (Gaz) Surendra Singh
Karwar, Sept 24, 2021: Naval Ship Repair Yard (NSRY), Karwar, won the Gold Trophy at the Chapter Convention on Quality Concepts conducted at Mysuru for the Quality Circle Forum of India.
It is now qualified for the maiden participation in the National Convention on Quality Concepts scheduled at Coimbatore on Dec 21.
A total of 97 QC teams from major industries like TVS, ITC, BEML, BHEL, and Schnider participated in the regional convention held at Mysuru and presented their case studies. Each case study was graded Gold/ Silver/ Bronze based on its merit. Gold-graded case studies qualify for the National QC Convention.
The quality circle (QC) team ‘Sahas’ of NSRY that won the Gold Trophy was led by Commander Girish Jadhav and Foreman (Gaz) Surendra Singh. The team presented a case study on “In-house Calibration of Stanadyne Fuel Injection Pump fitted on-board Water Jet Fast Attack Craft (WJFAC)”.

In every organization, Quality Circle comprises a group of employees who come together to analyze problems, develop solutions and implement them for industrial issues related to manufacturing, services, and administration.

It is the maiden qualification for NSRY, Karwar since its inception in 2006 at the National QC Convention. Also the first of its kind project for the Navy, ‘In-house Calibration of Stanadyne Fuel Injection Pump’, reinforced the Yard’s commitment as the nodal agency for maintenance of all WJFACs (Water Jet fast attack crafts) along the Western seaboard.
