University College Library to be developed under Smart City project
Mangaluru, Sept 04, 2021: Mangaluru City South MLA Vedavyas Kamath has assured to reconstruct University College Library under the Smart City project.
University College, earlier known as Government College, is one of the oldest institutions in the Coastal City. Many renowned personalities including former Minister M Veerappa Moily had studied in this college.
Kamath made this assurance at the College Development Committee (CDC) meeting held on Saturday. The meeting discussed the development and beginning of new courses in the college.
“The College has a history of over 150 years. I will try to get a government grant for the development of the college,” he said.
“The college library has over 70,000 books. It will be reconstructed under Smart City Project,” he said.
Mangaluru City Mayor Premanand Shetty, University Syndicate Member Ramesh, Ravichandra PN, CDC members Muralidhar Nayak, Shikaripura Krishnamurthy, Prakash Nayak, Harshavardhan Gatti, Vittal Kuva, and others were present.
Principal Dr. Anasooya Rai presided. Dr harish welcomed, Economic Lecturer Dr. Jayavantha Nayak delivered the vote of thanks.
