Karwar Municipality warns action against open dumping of solid waste
Karwar, Sept 03, 2021: Karwar Municipal Council Commissioner R P Naik has taken serious note of solid waste being dumped on vacant lands and open places in the City.
There are complaints about the dumping of solid wastes in open places and vacant lands in the City. Taking this seriously the Commissioner has asked the owners of those lands to clear the wastes immediately.
“Solid wastes disposed on open places will turn to be a potential breeding site. It will not only cause a nuisance to the neighborhood but also turn to be a spot of spreading diseases,” he said in a press statement.
As per the Karnataka Municipal Act of 1964, the owners of the vacant land and open plots should ensure cleanliness and construct compound walls. Also, complete information on the land has to be provided to the Municipality.
“Violations will be strictly dealt with. We will book criminal cases against the violators and also seize the land,” he added.
