Chief Minister assures government medical college for Udupi
Udupi, Aug 12, 2021: Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured to set up a government medical college for Udupi district on Public-Private Participation (PPP) model.
Activists and the public have been demanding the government set up a government medical college in Udupi and Dakshina Kannada district.
Chief Minister made this assuring during his visit to the district on Thursday. He was in Udupi to lay the foundation stone for the new wing of the district hospital and to supervise the district’s Covid management today.
“Setting up a government medical college in Udupi is a longstanding demand. We will approve it shortly. The college will be on the PPP model,” he said.
As the BR Shetty Mother and Child Hospital is facing a financial crisis, the state government has decided to take it over.
The CM said that government will do so for good service and better management.
Health Minister Dr K Sudhakar, Kannada and Culture Minister Sunil Kumar, Social Welfare Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLAs Raghupathi Bhat, Lalaji Mendon, BJP Mangaluru Vibhag Prabhari Uday Kumar Shetty and others were present.
