Madhav Nayak wants justice for beach maintenance workers
Karwar, July 15, 2021: Jana Shakthi Vedike president Madhav Nayak has defined non-payment of eight months salary to the maintenance personnel at Karwar beach as a human rights violation.
Nayak submitted a memorandum to the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the salary is paid at the earliest failing to which he would approach the Human Rights Commission.
“I received a phone call from a woman saying that her husband who is working as maintenance staff at the beach has not received salary since eight months. Their situation is pathetic and struggling,” Madhav Nayak told The Canara Post.
When Nayak probed this, he found that the situation was the same for 12 employees working at the beach and warship museum.
“This is a clear violation of Human Rights and the district administration should immediately take steps to get the dues cleared. Additional DC has assured to look into the matter,” he said.
“I have given four day time failing to which I will be forced to complain it to Human Rights Commission. We want a solution to this at the earliest,” he added.
