Karnataka to boost ecotourism
Udupi, July 10, 2021: Karnataka government is likely to promote ecotourism in the Coastal belt by boosting Mangrove forest.
Forest Minister Aravind Limbavali who was on Udupi tour today visited the Mangroves at Kodi near Kundapur on Saturday.
“Ecotourism can be promoted by growing Mangrove forest in the backwaters in the coastal districts. The area of Mangroves should be extended,” the minister said and added that the government would come out with a comprehensive project.
Limbavali who appreciated the department for planting mangroves in about 15 hectares last year asked the officials to extend the area as it would work as the natural barrier in protecting the shore and also boost ecotourism.
The Mangroves are also breeding place for fish.
