Dakshina Kannada: Bus fare hike deferred
Mangaluru, July 05, 2021: Hike in bus fare has been deferred till RTA meeting in Dakshina Kannada district.
As the government had allowed bus service with only 50 percent seating capacity and due to the hike in fuel price the owners had demanded a hike in bus fare. The district administration had allowed a 20 percent hike until the RTA meeting.
However, in the new guidelines of Unlock 3.0, the government has allowed buses to operate with 100 percent seating capacity.
Following this, the Deputy Commissioner held a meeting with the bus owners on Monday.
“The price hike decision has been kept in abeyance till RTA meeting. Today during the meeting, owners have agreed to collect the same fare that existed before lockdown,” Dakshina Kannada DC Dr. Rajendra K V told reporters.
“The RTA meeting is likely to be held in one week,” he added.
