Shobha directs officials to take preventive measures to control Covid
Udupi, June 08, 2021: Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje directed the officials to take effective measures to control Covid and also gear up for the third wave by taking necessary preventive measures.
Shobha was heading a meeting at Dr. V S Acharya Hall in Udupi today.
She said that the complete lockdown in those villages which reported high Covid cases has helped in bringing down the number of cases. She, therefore, asked the officials to continue complete lockdown in those villages which have more than 50 active cases.
The district has 4,085 active cases of which 487 are being treated in hospital and 149 at Covid Care Center (CCC). As many as 3,449 are at Home Isolation. The district has recorded 20 Black Fungus cases of which 6 are from the Udupi district. The remaining 14 cases were from other districts. Of the four patients who shifted to Wenlock Hospital for more treatment two died. Of those being treated in Udupi six have recovered and eight are under treatment.
Shobha said that the children, who are not vaccinated, may be affected due to the third wave and so asked the officials to take all the necessary measures.
Udupi DC G Jagadeesh said 2,75,064 people in the district have received the first dose and 87,360 have got the second dose. This 20.37 percent achievement is the highest in the state.
MLAs and senior officials were present at the meeting.
