Mangaluru, June 07, 2021: The state government has released 3.085 crores for the 617 Gram Panchayats in the three Coastal Karnataka districts for effective Covid management at the grassroots level.
Few days ago the state government had declared to release ₹ 50 thousand to each Gram Panchayat in the state. Following this, it has now provided ₹ 30.045 crores for the 6009 Gram Panchayats in the state.
Of this Dakshina Kannada which has 228 Panchayats has got ₹ 1.14 crore and Uttara Kannada has got 1.155 crores for its 231 Panchayats. Udupi has 158 Panchayats and has received 79 lakh.
The state government has directed to set up a Covid Care Center (CCC) in every Panchayat limit. The Panchayats which find it difficult to have one within their limits should take the help of the nearby Panchayats.
The ₹50 thousand is provided to every Panchayat by the state government from the State Disaster Reserve Fund (SDRF). The money has to be utilized to provide Covid kits (masks, sanitizers, medicines, and other materials) for those under Home Isolation. The patients who do not have proper facilities for Home Isolation should be shifted to the Panchayat’s CCC. The money provided by the state should be used to run the Covid Care Center (provide food, bed, and other expenditure).
