Mangaluru, May 12, 2021: With a low-pressure area being developed in the Arabian sea, the India Meteorological Department has asked the fishermen not to venture into the sea.

The low pressure is likely to intensity into a cyclonic storm ‘Tauktae,’ over the east-central Arabian Sea by May 16.

IMD has alerted squally wind speed reaching 50-60 km gusting to 70 kmph likely along and off Karnataka Coast on May 15 and so has asked fishermen not to venture into the sea. Those boats which are already in the sea have been advised to return to the coast by May 14 night.

Following the IMD alert, the Indian Coast Guard has issued instructions to Indian Fishing boats asking them not to venture out for fishing in the wake of an alert from IMD.

ICG Ships and CG Dornier aircraft on patrol relayed weather warning to fishermen at sea on VHF Channel to return to nearest shores.
