 IMD issues yellow alert for Coastal Karnataka

Mangaluru, May 11, 2021: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued yellow alert for Dakshina Kannada, Udupi and Uttara Kannada.

The Meteorological Center, Bengaluru in its forecast issued at 1 pm on May 11 has issued yellow alert for the next two days in Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada district. The region is likely to witness thunderstorms with lightning at isolated places from May 11 to 15. (Yellow alert is defined as, isolated heavy rains (less than 64.5mm).

The IMD has also issued an orange alert from 8.30 am on May 15 to 8.30 am on May 16.
(Orange alert indicates rain between 115.6 mm to 204.4 mm).

Forecast till May 12 morning:
Most of the places in Belthangady, Kadaba, Puttur, Bantwal, and Moodabidri in Dakshina Kannada district, Hebri, Karkala in Udupi district, and parts of Sirsi, Yellapur, and Haliyal are likely to experience moderate rain. Other places are likely to get light rainfall.
