Udupi, May 05, 2021: A 12-year-old girl, who was dejected by home quarantine restrictions committed suicide at Kirinajeshwara village in Udupi district.

The incident took place at Paduvayanamane of Kirimanjeshwara village in Byndoor Taluk on May 4.

With one of the relative testing COVID positive, the family members of the girl were under home quarantine as they were the primary contact of the patient.

Taking all the precautions, the family members asked the 12-year-old girl Tanvita not to be in close contact with the family members and also not to go out of the house. The girl was also asked not to play with the small child in the house.

Dejected by these restrictions the girl committed suicide by hanging in a room between 11.30 am and 12 noon on May 4.

Byndoor police have registered Unnatural Death Report (UDR) under Section 174 of CrPC.
