Udupi DC asks hospitals to increase number of ICU beds

Udupi, April 30, 2021: With the district witnessing an increase in COVID cases, Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has asked the officials to increase the number of ICU beds in all the government and private hospitals in the district a precautionary measure.

The DC said this during a meeting of the Expert Committee at his office today.

Stressing the need to ensure the patients do not face a shortage of beds, Jagadeesh asked the government and private hospitals to explore the possibilities and increase the number of ICU beds immediately.

He also asked the private hospitals to update the admission and discharges regularly as it would help in the bed management system. This will also help the district administration to take necessary measures if there is any problem.

Jagadeesh said that there is no shortage of oxygen in the district but asked the officials to ensure that the oxygen is not wasted.

Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Naveen Bhat, DHO Dr. Sudhirchandra Sooda, District Surgenor Dr. Madhusudhan Nayak, District COVID nodal officer Dr. Prashanth Bhat and Expert Committee doctors were present.
