Activists express concern over Grama Vastavya
Karwar, April 16, 2021: Considering the increase in COVID cases in the country as well as in the district, activists have requested the Deputy Commissioner to cancel the Grama Vastavaya program temporarily.
Uttara Kannada district is witnessing an upward trend in COVID cases. On Thursday two deaths were recorded in the district. This has raised the concern of the people.
The district administration had decided to hold the monthly Grama Vastavya program at Uppina Patna village in Kumta taluk.
Jana Shakthi Vedike president Madhav B Nayak had expressed concern over such a program at this juncture and spoke to Deputy Commissioner Mullai Muhilan.
“I spoke to the DC requesting him to cancel the program. He said that the program has been canceled,” Madhav Nayak told The Canara Post.
In the evening, an official communique from the Deputy Commissioner’s office confirmed the postponement of the program.
“As per Revenue Minister’s direction, the program has been postponed,” the press statement added.
