Udupi, April 14, 2021: Opposing their colleagues attending duty during the ongoing protest, two KSRTC employees allegedly threatened a driver and conductor and also damaged the bus on Tuesday.

Employees of Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation (KSRTC) employees are on strike. However many drivers in the Coastal districts are on strike in the state since last week. Many have returned to duty especially after the state government decided to impose ESMA (Essential Services Maintenance Act).

Raghavendra N (31) of Bydnoor works as KSRTC driver. As per the directions of the higher officials he had attended duty. On April 13 he along with Ashok (conductor) was on the way from Kundapur to Bhatkal.

Around 3.55 pm when the bus reached Railway Tunnel near Shiroor village, Nagesh and Surendra came in a black motorbike. They abused and threatened the bus driver and conductor and questioned why they attended the duty when the employees were on strike.

Nagesh and Surendra picked up a stone and damaged the windshield of the bus. The loss is estimated to be around ₹ 10 thousand.

A case under IPC Section 341 (wrongful restrain), 353 ( Assault or criminal force to deter public servant from discharge of his duty), 506 (Criminal intimidation), and 34 (Acts by several persons in furtherance of common intention) has been registered and also under the provisions of ESMA and PDPP (Prevention of Damage to Public Property) Act.
