BJP, VHP seek night curfew relaxation
Mangaluru, April 10, 2021: Senior leaders of Vishwa Hindu Parishad and BJP met Mangaluru City Police Commissioner with a request to allow religious activities during Nigh Curfew.
Various religious activities like annual festivals of temples (Jatre), Kola, Nema, Yakshagana, and Brahmakalashotsav are scheduled during summer in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. Many of these religious programs are held at night. But the government’s decision to impose night curfew at Mangaluru and Udupi has left the people in dilemma.
Leaders including Mangaluru City South Vedavyas Kamath, Mangaluru City North MLA Bharath Shetty, VHP Zone secretary Sharan Pumpwell, District Secretary Shivanand met Police Commissioner Shashi Kumar and asked him to allow these religious activities during night curfew.
