Udupi, April 06, 2021: In two separate incidents that took place within a radius of few meters in Udupi, miscreants set ablaze two vehicles parked in front of the respective houses on Monday night.

Incident 1:

Miscreants locked up a person inside the house and set his bike ablaze at Udupi on April 5 night.

Police said that Harish Kumar Bhat (42) a resident of NGO Colony 9th cross, Bailoor owned a Discovery Motorbike. He had parked it in front of his house, inside his compound as usual.
Between 1 am and 2 am some unidentified miscreants set the bike ablaze. They locked the house from outside to ensure that Harish does not come out.

The bike was completely burnt. The estimated loss is about ₹ 20,000.

A case is registered at Udupi Town Police Station under IPC Section 342 (Wrongful confinement), 435 (mischief by fire or any explosive substance intending to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause, damage to any property) along with 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).

Incident 2:

Abdul Rashid (50) who too is a resident of NGO Colony 9th cross, had parked his rickshaw in front of his house. On Monday night between 1 am and 2 am, some miscreants set the rickshaw ablaze. The total loss is estimated to be ₹ 2.25 lakh.

An FIR has been registered at Udupi Town Police Station under IPC Section (mischief by fire or any explosive substance intending to cause, or knowing it to be likely that he will thereby cause, damage to any property) along with 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention).
