Mangaluru, March 31, 2021: Health Minister Sudhakar K has put an end to the confusion related to order banning Jathra and other public program.

Sudhakar is on his two-day visit to Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district.

Following the Chief Minister’s high-level meeting and the outcome of it, on March 27 the state Chief Secretary had issued an order banning Jathre/fairs in public places. Following this Dakshina Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V, on March 30, issued an order Under CrPC section 144 and Disaster Management Act banning all Jathre, meetings, and celebrations in public and religious places.

As there was opposition to this, District Incharge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary gave a clarification in the evening stating that all the religious events, Jathre, and other programs already scheduled can continue by following COVID guidelines.

These contradictory statements by the Minister and Deputy Commissioner had left the people confused.

Health Minister Sudhakar has now put a full stop to all the confusion.

“CM has issued final guidelines after the meeting two days ago. That holds good,” Sudhakar told reporters at Mangaluru adding that he was not aware of the developments in the Dakshina Kannada district.

“Whatever CM has announced and Chief Secretary has released (the order) applies for all the 30 districts. Chief Minister’s order is government order,” he added.
