Mangaluru enforces strict COVID norms
Mangaluru, March 22, 2021: Finding people not wearing masks and failing to follow social distancing, senior officials led by Deputy Commissioner Dr. Rajendra K V personally visited some of the crowded places in the City today and imposed fines on violators.
Despite DK and nearby Kerala witnessing an increase in the COVID cases, people are seen neglecting COVID norms. Thus the team of top officials including DC Dr. Rajendra KV, DHO Dr. Ramachandra Bairi, DCP Hariram Shankar, MCC Commissioner Dinesh, and Health Officer Manjaiah Shetty visited several places in the City.
The DC advised the people that instead of paying fines and then wearing the mask, people should voluntarily do it as their responsibility.
Seeing people not wearing a mask even when they go to shops and malls, the DC warned the people and also owners of shops and malls.
“When people enter Malls they should compulsorily wear masks and use sanitizers. The virus spreads easily in AC rooms,” he told when he visited City Center Mall.
He directed the Commissioner of Mangaluru City Corporation to shut Malls and supermarkets that violate COVID rules.
Finding people traveling in the buses without wearing masks, the officials stopped the buses and imposed a fine. The officials warned the buses of strict action if the commuters did not follow the COVID norms.
The officials imposed a fine on the staff of petrol bunk at Navabharath Circle and shops near KSRTC. At Mahatma Gandhi Road, he asked the student community to follow COVID norms and support the fight against Corona.
