Kambala’s ‘Usain Bolt’ breaks his own record
Covers 100 mtrs in 8.96 seconds
Mangaluru, March 20, 2021: The Soorya Chandra Jodukare Kambala at Venur-Permuda witnessed a new record with Srinivas Gowda covering 100 meters in 8.96 seconds.
At Venur-Permuda, Srinivas Gowda covered 125 meters Kare (Kambala field) in 11.21 seconds. When converted to 100 meters this becomes 8.96 seconds. This was in ‘Nayer,’ category. He was handling the buffaloes of Irvail Panila Bada Poojary.
Srinivas Gowda had come to the limelight and also grabbed the attention of Anand Mahindra and also the Union Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju during the Kambala at Aikala last year when he covered 100 meters in 9.55 seconds.
He was then compared with sprinter Usain Bolt. At the Venur Kambala held later, Nishanth Shetty broke his record by covering 100 meters in 9.52 seconds.
This year’s record to date was in the name of Vishwanath Devadiga who had covered 100 meters in 9.15 seconds at Aikala Kambala.
Now Srinivas Gowda not only broke his record but all the records to date.
