Mangaluru, March 15, 2021: With the number of COVID cases seeing a steep increase in neighboring Kerala state, the Dakshina Kannada district administration has decided to take various precautionary measures to prevent the second wave.

During a meeting held at Deputy Commissioner’s office, Dr. K V Rajendra stressed on compulsory negative RT-PCR certificate not older than 72 hours for all who enter the district from other states.

The Deputy Commissioner made screening compulsory for students coming from other states. Those students from other states who go home have to compulsory come with a negative report when they return.

Rajendra asked the people to approach the doctors if they had issues like cough, fever, and throat pain.

He stressed an increase in COVID tests and also effective tracking of the primary and secondary contacts of the patients.

He also directed to keep strict surveillance on the entry points to the district from Kasargod. Officials were directed to identify and shut less frequented roads on the border. Additional checkpoints will be setup in addition to the existing taluk level checkpoints.
