Beware car owners, thieves are on prowl!
Udupi/Mangaluru, March 12: Thieves have targeted the valuables kept in the car by breaking open the rear window. In a single day, three incidents have been reported in the Coastal districts- two in Udupi and one in Mangaluru where thieves have stolen valuables like Laptops, cash, and cards.
Mangaluru: Chethan Kumar Kadri had parked his car near the Supermarket at Chilimbi on Thursday at 12.40 pm. He had been to Sai Baba Mandir and returned at 1.20 pm when he found the left rear window broken. The saffron color bag with ₹20,000 cash, ₹40,000 worth of foreign currency, ATM card, Emirates ID, Aadhar Card, his wife’s Dubai Islamic Bank ATM Card, and also passport was stolen.
Udupi: Two similar cases were reported in Udupi on Thursday and both took place near Udupi Bus Stand.
The first one was between 5 pm and 7.30 pm. Raksha U (26) had parked her Maruthi Swift car near Raj Towers near City Bus Stand. The left rear window was broken and the thief stole a laptop (worth ₹25,000).
The second incident was between 7.20 pm and 7.40 pm. Dr. Naman Agarwal (30) had parked his Baleno Car near Udupi Glass House. The car’s rear window was broken. Here too the laptop kept inside was stolen.
In both incidents, the Police have booked a case under IPC Section 379 (theft) and 427 (Mischief causing damage).
