Udupi, March 04, 2021: Thieves who entered the Trasi Gram Panchayat office, stole ₹35 thousand cash kept in the cupboard.

The money collected in the panchayat in the form of tax is deposited in the bank on the next day. On March 2 the Panchayat had collected ₹35,833 cash. The officials had placed it in the Cupboard and locked the Panchayat office at 5.45 am.

On the next day (March 3) when Panchayat personnel Sandeep came to open the door, he found the files spread out in the room.

Immediately he called the PDO Shobha S. When the officials rushed to the office they found the thieves had entered the office by breaking open the window rod of the meeting hall in the President’s chamber. The locks of the cupboards and drawers were forced open. ₹35,833 cash has been stolen.

Based on the complaint by the PDO, Gangollil Police have registered a case under IPC section 457 (Lurking house-trespass or house-breaking by night to commit offence) and 380 (theft).
