Mangaluru, March 03, 2021: The construction of an additional Foot Over Bridge (FOB) connecting platform No.1 and 2/3 at Mangaluru Junction has been completed. The FOB is situated on the north side of the station.

The work of the construction work costing ₹ 1.55 crore had begun in October 2019. Railway Designs and Standards Organization (RDSO) specifications have been followed in the construction.

Stairway & Gangway
The bridge has a 3.3 metres wide stairway and gangway. The length of the gangway is 20.4 metres and it is 6.53 metres height from the rail level.

On the gangway vitrified tile surface is provided in a chess board pattern for better aesthetic appeal.

Protective mesh and screen coverings are provided at length on both sides to prevent contact of passengers with the live Over Head Electrical wires. At width, on both ends of the gangway is kept covering free to enable free flow of air and to give a panoramic view of nature around to the users.

FOB Roof
Coated iron profile sheets are used for roofing of the FOB. Tubular sections are used in roofs to reduce the weight of the structure.

Connectivity to important destinations
At present 21 pairs of trains which includes Express trains connecting Important Cities like Bengaluru, Mysuru, Ernakulam Thiruvananthapuram and states like Goa, Maharashtra (Mumbai – Lokmanya Tilak Terminus , Chathrapathi Shivaji Maharaj Terminus and Dadar ,Pune) Gujarat (Veraval, Jamnagar, Porbander), Rajasthan (Ganganagar and Ajmer) , Madhya Pradesh (Indore, Jabalpur),Haryana (Hisar) and New Delhi stops at the station.
