Marshals to keep a tab on COVID rule violators
Udupi, March 02, 2021: Udupi district administration will appoint Marshals to ensure COVID preventive measures are followed strictly at the functions and meetings.
Udupi district deputy commissioner G Jagadeesh said this while presiding over the district expert committee at his office today.
“Marshals will take action against those who do not wear masks and who do not follow social distancing at programs and meetings. The Marshals will visit the venue and impose fines. They will also initiate action against the owners of the building,” he said.
“Those coming from Kerala and Maharashtra should submit COVID negative certificate after undergoing RTPC test. Cases will be booked under Epidemic Act against those who violate it,” he warned.
Udupi Zilla Panchayat CEO Dr. Naveen Bhat asked the health department to increase the number of testing and also keep a watch on the primary contacts.
DHO Dr. Sudheer Chandra Sooda, District Surgeon Dr. Madhusudhan Nayak, COVID special officer Dr. Premanand and other officials were present.
