Customs officials seize foreign currency
Mangaluru, March 01, 2021: Based on intelligence and reconnaissance, officials of Mangalore Air customs have nabbed a person for smuggling foreign currency worth ₹5.52 lakh.
The officials nabbed Muzakkir Ahamed Faqui Ameda hailing from Honnavara of Uttara Kannada District, near the Departure terminal of Mangalore International Airport today.
He allegedly tried to smuggle the foreign currency worth ₹ 5,52,678 with denominations in pound sterling, Dollar, and Kuwait Dinar out of India by hiding in his inner garments kept in the Baggage.
The said Foreign currency was attempted to be smuggled without valid documentary evidence and in a clandestine manner. Further investigation is in process.
The team was led by Deputy Commissioner Avinash Kiran Rongali, Superintendents Rakesh, and Vikas.
