Over Rs 1 lakh worth arecanut stolen
Mangaluru, Feb 27, 2021: With arecanut price seeing an upward trend, thieves have now started targetting arecanut stocks.
Abdul Razak of Pernemugeruof Karopadi village had stocked arecanut at the shed near his house.
In the intervening night of Feb 25 and Feb 26 thieves force opened the lock using some sharp tools. They stole 300 kg arecanut packed in 15 bags from the shed.
The estimated value of the stolen arecanut was over Rs 1 lakh.
A case is registered at Vittla police station under IPC Section 457 (House trespass) and 380 (theft in dwelling house).
