Passenger conceals gold worth ₹30 lakh in rectum, arrested in Mangaluru Airport
Mangaluru, Jan 30, 2021: Customs officials of Mangaluru International Airport arrested a person trying to smuggle gold worth 30 lakh today.
Based on intelligence and surveillance, the officials intercepted one Mashkoor Kallar of Kasargod, Kerala. He had arrived from Dubai by Air India flight IX 1814 today.
On profiling and personal search, the passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in his Rectum.
Gold weighing 0.587 KG of 24k purity valued at ₹ 30 Lakh(approx) was recovered and seized. He has been arrested under relevant provisions of the Customs Act by the Deputy Commissioner of the Airport Customs.
Commissioner of Customs, Imamuddin Ahmed, has commended the persistent vigil maintained by the Mangalore Air Customs team lead by Deputy Commissioner Dr.Kapil Gade and Superintendents Preeti Suma, Satish Kumar, and Kashiti Nayak.
