Do not turn down patients: Kota Srinivas Poojary warns Wenlock doctors
Mangaluru, Jan 26, 2021: Following complaints from the public about the problem they face at Wenlock Hospital, District Incharge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary along with MLAs Dr. Bharat Shetty and Vedavyas Kamath gave a surprise visit to the hospital on Tuesday.
Poojary and MLAs had participated in the Republic Day program at Nehru Maidan. Completing this, Poojary suddenly visited the hospital.
He spoke to the patients and the family members and listened to their problems.
Poojary expressed unhappiness over the complaint that the patients were asked to purchase medicine from outside.
“We have heard that the patients are tested here and some doctors ask them to purchase medicine from outside. Doctors should not do this. The free medicine provided by the government should be supplied here,” he directed.
“All the medicine and necessary materials should be procured through tendering whenever it is necessary. Patients should not be asked to take them from outside,” he said.
He also warned strict action against the doctors who ask the patient to go to private hospitals or do not provide proper treatment.
Poojary directed the officials to provide proper drinking water, toilet, and other facilities to the patients who get admitted as inpatients in the hospital.
“Patients from nearby districts too come to this hospital for treatment. Officials and staff should provide good treatment,” he added.
