Car Street Ashwatha tree collapses
Mangaluru, Jan 24, 2021: The huge Ashwatha tree at Car street fell today morning.
It was a landmark of Car Street. Devotees would bow their heads with respect to this massive Peepal tree situated right in front of Sri Venkatramana Temple.
A tree that provided shelter to various types of birds, gave shade to the pedestrians, especially during the sunny days.
The sound of the leaves would attract the people and the huge ‘Katte,’ (platform) built around this ‘Ashwatha,’ tree added to the beauty of the place.
But the tree has gone into history pages now as it fell on Sunday morning.
Despite situated beside the busy street, the tree did not cause any casualty or major damage.
The tree fell on the road (on the west side). Three vehicles below including a tanker, car, and a JCB were damaged.
The police and fire department officials immediately rushed to the spot to clear the road.
