Gold paste concealed in rectum seized, one held
Mangaluru, Jan 21, 2021: Customs officials of Mangaluru International Airport caught a person who was trying to smuggle gold worth 44.2 lakh from a passenger today.
Joint Commissioner Customs Joannes George said based on intelligence the officials intercepted one Ubaid Baliyath Azeez of Madikeri who had arrived from Dubai by Air India flight IX 1814 today.
On personal search, the passenger was found to have concealed gold in paste form in Rectum. Gold 0.8 Kg of 24k purity valued at ₹ 44.2 Lakh was recovered and seized.
Commissioner of Customs, Imamuddin Ahmed, has appreciated the team headed by Deputy Commissioner Dr.Kapil Gade. The team included Superintendents Shrikanth. K, Manokathayini, Inspector Ashish Kumar, and others.
