Panambur railway goods shed to offer round the clock service
- On a trial basis for a period of three months from January 18
- To speed up the loading / unloading of goods
Mangaluru, Jan 15, 2021: Panambur Railway Goods Shed will offer round the clock service on a trial basis for a period of three months from January 18 to speed up the loading / unloading of goods.
This modification in the working hours is for handling covered wagons at the Good shed. At present the working hours of the shed is 6 am to 10 pm except for the mechanised loading/unloading in open wagons which happens round the clock.
The Goods shed mainly handles Coal and fertilizer. An average of 800 wagons are handled at this goods shed per month.
During December, 2020, the fertiliser loading from the Goods shed registered an increase of 10 percent compared to the corresponding period of last year.
The increased working hours will ensure uninterrupted loading / unloading of goods which is beneficial to the customers as well as railways. It will increase wagon turnaround and allow optimum utilization of resources.
