Mangaluru, Dec 19, 2020: After arresting six in connection to Ujire kidnap case and producing them before the court, Dakshina Kannada police are now searching for the kingpin.

Eight-year-old Anubhav of Ujire in Dakshina Kannada district was kidnapped when he along with his grandfather were returning from the ground at Ujire on Thursday evening.

The four special teams along with the DCIB officials were given the task and they tracked the kidnappers and rescued the child on Saturday morning at Kolar.

Arrest: Police also arrested which included four kidnappers and two who had provided shelter. The search is on for the kingpin in the kidnap case.

Dakshina Kannada SP B M Laxmi Prasad told reporters that the six arrested were Ranjith (22) and Hanumanthu (21) of Mandya district, Gangadhar (25) of Mysuru district, Kamal (22) of Bengaluru Electronic City, Manjunath (24) and Mahesh (26) of Kolar district. While the first four are accused of kidnapping the child, the two from Kolar had provided shelter, according to the primary investigation.

The accused have been produced before the court at Kolar.

Kingpin: The kingpin is suspected to be a person well known to Anubhav’s father. Police teams are working to arrest him. Ranjith, Gangadhar, Hanumanthu, and Kamal were hired to kidnap the child and assured ₹ 7 lakh for this task.

Planning and execution: The four kidnappers had arrived at Ujire and planned the execution of the kidnap. They were here for about ten days keeping a close tab and planing the kidnap. They are suspected to have resided in a nearby lodge.

Reason: It is not yet clear if the kidnap was only for money or was it because of any personal animosity. A clear picture would be available after a detailed probe and the arrest of the kingpin.

Ujire kidnap case: Police rescue boy within 36 hours, start tracking those behind abduction

Belthangady, Dec 19, 2020: Dakshina Kannada police have succeeded in rescuing the kidnapped boy. About six persons have been taken for questioning.

Eight-year-old Anubhav of Ujire in Dakshina Kannada district was kidnapped when he along with his grandfather were returning from the ground at Ujire on Thursday evening.

While the police have finished the major task of rescuing the boy, the police are tracking those behind the kidnap, those actively involved in the case, and finding the reason for the kidnap.

Five special teams formed by SP B M Laxmi Prasad had started working on various leads within hours of the kidnap. One piece of information was that the car had crossed the district border.

The teams led by DCIB Inspector Cheluvaraju PSI Erayya (Uppinangady), Kumar C Kumble (Belthangady Traffic) Nandakumar (Belthangady Station) went to to Bengaluru and Kolar in search for the boy.

Based on credible information the officials reached Malur where they found the kidnapped boy.

The police officials ensured the safety of the boy and took about six people for questioning.

Sources said that these may be different from those who had kidnapped the boy. A detailed investigation is likely to throw more light on the case and the number of those involved in the kidnap.
The police are now working on tracking the key persons behind the case and also those who had helped the accused in executing the kidnap.
