Mangaluru boat tragedy: Govt releases ₹ 6 lakh compensation
Mangaluru, Dec 02: The state government has declared ₹6 lakh each to the family members of the boat tragedy victims.
“Based on the directions of Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa, a compensation of ₹ 6 lakh has been released for the family members of the boat tragedy victims,” Fisheries Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said in a tweet.
He also assured to speak to the Chief Minister to provide more compensation.

Boat tragedy: No fishing in Mangaluru today
Mangaluru, Dec 02, 2020: Fishing activity came to a grinding halt on Wednesday.
Following the boat tragedy on Monday, the fishermen decided not to venture into the sea today.

“Shri Raksha,” a boat owned by Prashanth Chitrapura with 25 fishermen had completed fishing. The boat drowned when it was hit by waves. Nineteen fishermen were rescued by another fishing boat. Six fishermen went missing.
The dead body of two was found on Tuesday and two more on Wednesday. Search is on for two others.
“It is a sad incident for the fishermen. As they have lost their men in this incident fishermen have decided not to go on fishing today. Teams are are trying their best to search the two missing people,” a fishermen leader said.
