Police book case against Pickup driver for Culpable Homicide
Belthangady, Nov 30, 2020: In connection to the accident that killed two people, police have booked a case under Section 304 (Culpable Homicide) against the Pickup driver.
Jayaram and Krishnaprasad who were travelling in a bike were hit by a Pickup vehicle that came on the wrong side. The incident took place at Hunasekatte in Karaya village of Belthangady Taluk on Sunday around 9 pm.
Both in the bike sustained serious injuries and died on the spot. The Pickup driver tried to escape but was stopped by the villagers at Kalliri Janatha Colony.
The driver has been identified as Harish (29) of Koyyur village.
The police found him in an inebriated state. A case has been booked under Section 134 (A) and (B) and also Indian Motor Vehicle Act Section 185.
As the driver was allegedly involved in drunken driving knowing that it could lead to death or damage to others, the police have booked case under the stringent Section of IPC 304 (Culpable Homicide) where the accused can be punished with lifetime or an imprisonmen that can extend upto 10 year.
Police have warned strict action against those who drive in an inebriated state.
