Paniyadi Temple’s Shila Muhurtham held
Udupi, Nov 27, 2020: ‘Shila Muhurtham,’ of Sri Lakshmi Anantapadmanabha Temple- Paniyadi was held in the presence of Puthige Matadhipathi Sri Sugunendra Teertha Sripadaru on November 27.
The ritual is being held as part of the renovation of the temple.
The temple has a history of over 800 years. According to scholars, there is mention about this temple in the ‘Bhavaprakashika,’ written by Sri Narayana Pandithacharya, a disciple of Sri Madhvacharya.
It mentions that Sri Anantheshwara had blessed one Kunjimadhava Brahmin with the idol worshipped at Paniyadi Temple.
The ‘Astamangala Prashnam,’ has stated that Sri Madhvacharya had authored a book at this place.
Speaking on the occasion, Sri Sugunendra Teertha Swamiji appreciated the renovation works with the active participation of the people.
Hayavadana Tantri, Gopalakrishna Jois, B Gopalachar, Udupi Urban Development Authority chief Raghavendra Kini, Kunjibettu ward councilor Girish Anchan, and Mysuru Ramachandracharya were present.
Santhosh P Shetty Tenkara Guttu is in charge of the work. Raju H Nayak, an architect from Karkala will undertake the carving works. Mahitosh Acharya compered the program.
