Belthangady, Nov 25, 2020: Robbers attacked a shopkeeper and took away ₹1.50 lakh cash on Tuesday night.

Thirty-nine-year-old Krishnappa Gowda owns a grocery shop near Kaikamba Junction, about 10 kms from Belthangady on Laila-Kolli main road.

He has good business, as people of Kaikamba and nearby areas depend on his shop.

On Tuesday around 11 pm, he had closed the shop and was on his way home with the cash when two people who came in a two-wheeler hit him with an iron rod and took away the cash.

There is hardly any traffic or activity at night on this road.

Krishnappa had ₹1.50 lakh. Of this ₹90 thousand was his savings in pigmy that he had withdrawn yesterday.

Krishnappa, who had sustained injuries was immediately rushed to the nearby hospital from where he was shifted to Mangaluru for further treatment.

Police officials said that he is out of danger and shifted to ward on Wednesday.
A case is registered at Belthangady Police Station.
