Chain snatcher targets elderly women at her home
Udupi, Nov 22: A chain snatcher who entered the house of an elderly woman in the pretext of drinking water robbed a gold chain worth over ₹ lakh.
The incident took place on Saturday evening at Shirva in Udupi district.
It was 6.20 pm and almost dark. A stranger who came in a motorbike wearing a blue shirt, black pants, and black helmet stopped at the house of Vasanthi (72), a resident near Bantakal Sri Durgaparameshwari Temple.
He came into the house and asked for water. After serving water when Vasanthi turned, the person suddenly came from behind and snatched the golden chain weighing 36 grams. The value of the chain is estimated to be ₹1.60 lakh.
Before Vasanthi could cry for help, he escaped from the spot on his motorbike.
A case is registered at Shirva Police Station under IPC Section 392 (Robbery).
