Thanks public for their support in fighting COVID

Udupi DC G Jagadeesh

Udupi, Nov 06: Deputy Commissioner G Jagadeesh has warned to suspend trade license of those shops that fail to follow COVID precautionary measures.

He also warned wedding organizers for flouting COVID guidelines on the number of participants.

As Udupi district is witnessing a dip in the COVID number, G Jagadeesh thanked the people for their co-operation and support in the fight against COVID.

“Earlier the district used to record 30 positive cases out of 100 samples tested. Now the number has dropped to two. This is possible because of the health workers and the officials of the district administration who toiled round the clock,” Jagadeesh said.

“I would like to thank brothers and sisters of Udupi who have cooperated and supported us in this fight against COVID. Their contribution in this has helped us in witnessing a decline in the number of cases,” he added.

Temporary Suspension of license:

Jagadeesh warned to cancel the trade license of those shops which do not ensure social distancing and fail to follow mask rule.
“We have seen shop owners themselves not wearing the mask properly. Also, social distancing is neglected. In such cases, we will temporarily cancel the license.

Criminal action against violators:

The Deputy Commissioner meanwhile asked people to follow the guidelines of the central government to prevent the spread of COVID failing to which criminal case would be booked against the violators.
“Though the government has permitted 200 people to attend the wedding and similar functions, we have noticed that the number swells by several times. This will not be tolerated. People should not put others’ lives at risk,” he said.

Officers to keep a tab on functions:

Jagadeesh said that an officer is appointed to keep a tab on the events which receive permission from the Tahsildars.
“The officer has to check if there is any violation. If he fails, action would be taken against that particular officer too,” he warned.

The number of cases has decreased in the district. All the ICUs and ventilators are vacant. With folded hands, I request the people not to neglect the guidelines.
