Karwar, Oct 25: Uttara Kannada Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar has issued order banning liquor sale between August 26 and 28.

The district is part of the West Graduate Constituency (Vidhana Parishad) which will go for polls on October 28.

To ensure that there is no untoward incident, transportation, collection, and sale of liquor is banned from October 26 evening (5 pm) to October 28 midnight.
They are declared a dry day.

The DC has also imposed Section 144 in 200 mtrs radius of the election centers on October 28 between 6 am and 8 pm.

Police department gears up for election:
Superintendent of Police Shiva Prakash Devaraju has said that all necessary steps have been taken to provide security during the election by following the COVID guidelines issued by the government.


Security is beefed up for election.
Four DySPs, 13 Police Inspectors, 17 Sub Inspectors, 26 ASIs, 40 Head Constables, 60 Police Constables, 10 DAR teams are deployed.
