Live now: Modi releases commemorative coin in honour of Vijaya Raje Scindia
New Delhi, Oct 12: Prime Minister Narendra Modi released a commemorative coin of ₹ 100 in honour of VijayaRajeScindia through a virtual ceremony.
Vijaya Raje Scindia is popularly known as the Rajmata of Gwalior.
The coin is being released in celebration of birth centenary of Vijaya Raje Scindia. The special commemorative coin was minted by the Finance Ministry as a part of these celebrations.
This coin will be released by the Prime Minister on her birth anniversary tomorrow .
Vijaya Raje Scindia was a BJP MP. She is the mother of BJP leader and former Rajasthan CM Vasundhara Raje and grandmother of BJP leader Jyotiraditya Scindia.
She had served as the Party’s vice president and also jailed during Emergency. Vijay Raje had also contested against Indira Gandhi in 1980.
Family members of Smt. Scindia along with other dignitaries also joined the ceremony from different locations all over the country through virtual platform.
