Mangaluru, Oct 11: The Moodabidri police opened fire and stopped the Ritz car which was transporting stolen cattle in Shirthadi village during the early hours on Sunday.

Police received a tip-off about a Ritz carrying stolen cattle. Based on this information, the Police team lead by Moodabidri Inspector Dinesh signaled to stop the car.

The speeding car did not stop but instead escaped by hitting the police jeep. The police chased the car to a distance. When the car continued to increase the speed, the police opened fire at the tire.

The tire of the car burst and the car stopped in the middle of the road. Those in the car escaped in the dark. However, based on the car number the police team is behind those involved in the act.

When police opened the car, they found six cattle including three calves.
