ZP meeting on Thursday

Mangaluru, Oct 08: Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) will be mandatory for all the Multistoried buildings in the villages of Dakshina Kannada district.

The issue came up at the Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat meeting on Thursday.

Participating in the discussion ZP member and former President Mamatha D S Gatti stated that many multistories buildings in Mudipu village and others are letting untreated sewage in open.

Speaking on the subject ZP CEO R Selvamani said that the Gram Panchayats will give three months’ time for the existing Multi Storied buildings (above three floors) to set up STPs and the Panchayats will take necessary action on the violators.

While the trade license of such Commercial establishments will not be renewed, the occupancy certificate of the residential apartments will be canceled.

The Executive Officers (EOs) of all the Taluk Panchayats in the district have been directed to issue Form 9 and 11 only to the buildings with STPs. The concerned EO will be held responsible if form 9 and 11 were issued to those without STPs.

The Panchayats are already denying permission to the new Multi-storied buildings which do not have STPs.

Officials said that the number of multistoried buildings is more in Mangaluru and Bantwal Taluks.
