Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery at Kasturba Hospital
Manipal, Sept 30: Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery will start operating at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal from October 1.
“Department of Reproductive Medicine will start at Kasturba Hospital, Manipal as per the approval of Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). Dr Pratap Kumar N will be heading the department,” Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr Avinash Shetty, said.
The department will be functional all week days between 8.30 am to 4.00pm”.
Manipal Assisted Reproduction Centre (MARC) has been elevated to Department of Reproductive Medicine and Surgery.
The Department will provide the facilities of- Induction of Ovulation, Transvaginal Sonographic Procedures, Intrauterine insemination, In vitro fertilization with Embryo Transfer (IVF-ET) Intra Cytoplasmic Sperm Injection (ICSI), Laser Assisted Hatching, Vasal / Epididymal & Testicular Sperm Extraction (MESA/TESA), Egg /Sperm Donation Program, Embryo and Semen Banking, Computer Aided Sperm Analysis (CASA), Sperm DNA damage evaluation, Detection of Y Chromosome microdeletion, Laparoscopic & Hysteroscopic procedures, Comprehensive Male Infertility Evaluation and Treatment and Surrogacy.
“With the new status we can do much more research activities and in turn will help the society,” Dr Sharath K Rao, Dean, KMC said.
