Modi’s 70th birthday celebration: BJP workers clean Hejamadi beach
Udupi, Sep 17: While BJP workers in the country and abroad are celebrating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 70th birthday today, party workers of Kaup in Udupi district did it in a different way.
Swachh Bharat Abhiyan is one of the favorite program of Modi. The Prime Minister was seen plogging at the beach during his morning walk before the India-China summit in Mamallapuram last year.
On his 70th birthday, party workers of Kaup Assembly constituency decided to follow the footsteps of Modi by organising a beach cleaning programme at Hejamadi.
A team of about 75 workers including Mangaluru Vibhag Prabhari Uday Kumar Shetty, MLA Lalaji Mendon, Mandala president Shrikanth Nayak, District Vice President Yashpal Suvarna, Zilla Panchayat vice president Sheela K Shetty, Panchayat member Shashikant Padubidri, State Mahila Morcha general secretary Shilpa Suvarna undertook the clean drive.
The bottles, plastic bags, and glasses were cleared. The workers also removed the dry woods and branches that were washed to shore.
“Modiji stresses cleanliness and we decided that it is the best thing we can do to celebrate his birthday. About a truckload of trash was cleared and disposed of,” Uday Kumar Shetty told The Canara Post.
