Mangaluru Mayor sets deadline to clear cutouts
Mangaluru, Sep 17: A large number of flex boards and cutouts in the City has left Mangaluru City Corporation annoyed. On Thursday Mangaluru Mayor Divakar set a deadline of three days to clear them.
“Flex and cutouts are creating nuisance in the city. People have complained to us about it. In the next three days, people who have erected these should clear it failing to which MCC officials will remove them. Earlier we used to return the flex and frame. But this time we will not do so,” Mayor Divakar warned.
“Those who want publicity for their events can use our advertisements boards. Also henceforth permission to put up banners will be made strictly mandatory. This will bring down the illegal banner menace and also bring us revenue,” he added.
Senior Corporator and Congress leader Naveen D’Souza has welcomed this move.
“Mayor Diwakar has done this with a good intention which all the political parties, associations, and the public should support. A few years ago Mangaluru was filled with movie posters. Now that has been controlled. It is time for the cutouts and flex,” Naveen D’Souza told The Canara Post.
“Such flex, cutouts and banners damage the beauty of the city and also create problems for the people. Let there be proper guidelines in connection to this,” he added.
