Now, ICU facilities in Taluk hospitals in Uttara Kannada
Karwar, Sep 15: Uttara Kannada is a vast district with 12 Taluks spread over Malnad and Coast. The terrain makes it difficult for the patients from remote villages of distant taluks to travel to the district headquarters of Karwar.
Considering this problem and to ensure that the district COVID ward in KIMS-Karwar is not unnecessarily crowded, the district administration has taken steps to provide necessary treatment in Taluk hospitals.
Deputy Commissioner Dr. Harish Kumar has now gone one step ahead and has chalked out plans to ensure ICU facilities in all the Taluk hospitals and ensure that the people of the particular taluks get treatment easily without traveling for hours to reach Karwar.
The DC held a meeting with the experts and officials of KIMS- Karwar on Tuesday.
He asked the experts to have a regular video conference with the taluk level doctors who provide treatment to the COVID patients.
He asked the hospital staff to ensure that the emergency cases who recover are shifted to the wards from ICU. This would help in ensuring that there is enough availability of ICU beds for emergency cases.
Necessary directions are provided to ensure that there is no shortage of medicines and oxygen. The District Health officer has to regularly monitor this.
