Udupi, Sep 09: Udupi Sri Krishna Matha is gearing up for Sri Krishna Ashtami celebration on Thursday.

Sri Krishna Janmashtami is celebrated on September 10 and Vittlapindi (Krishna Leelotsava) on September 11. As per the tradition in Udupi Sri Krishna Matha, Janmastami is celebrated on the 8th day (Astami) of solar month Simha Masam.

Though it is a low key affair this time due to COVID, Paryaya Swamiji Sri Eeshapriya Teertha and his Guru Sri Vishwapriya Teertha have ensured that all the traditional customs are followed. The only restriction is on public participation.

The main ritual of ‘Arghyapradanam,’ will be held at Sri Krishna Matha at midnight (12.16 am of Sep 11).

As there is a restriction on the entry to the Matha, arrangement has been made to telecast it online, Sri Eeshapriya Teertha Swamiji, the Paryaya Peetadhipathi said.

About 1 lakh laddoos and 1 lakh Chakkuli have been prepared.

As per the wish of the Swamiji, arrangements are being made to distribute them after it is offered to Lord Krishna tomorrow.
